Recovering from a cardiac event or illness takes time and special care. It can be an extended process that requires every bit of the expert care you received during the acute phase of your condition. At CHCS, our cardiac care includes cardiac rehabilitation, a medically supervised program for people who have had a heart attack, heart failure, heart valve surgery, coronary artery bypass grafting, and angioplasty with or without stent placement.

Dr. Hemant Boolani, a physician with St. Francis Heart and Vascular Center, is a fellow of the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is board certified in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine. Dr. Boolani received his medical degree from N.H.L. Municipal Medical College, Gujarat, India. He completed his residency at Howard University College of Medicine, Washington, D.C. Dr. Boolani also completed a cardiology fellowship at the University of Kansas School of Medicine.

Dr. Patrick Birkbeck attended the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed an Internal Medicine Residency and Cardiology Fellowship there. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and nuclear cardiology. His clinical interests are clinical cardiology, echocardiography, nuclear medicine, and transesophageal echocardiography.

Dr. Chow has clinical interests in heart failure and echocardiography and works with the Cotton-O'Neil Heart Center. He attended medical school at Dalhousie University, Faculty of Medicine in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, and completed his residency at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. He also completed a fellowship at the University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland.

Dr. Joliff is a visiting cardiologist from St. Francis Heart and Vascular Center. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, and nuclear cardiology.

Dr. Nilay V. Patel is a cardiologist with the Stormont Vail Cotton O'Neil Heart Center in Topeka. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and received his medical degree from B.J. Medical College in Ahmedabad, India. He completed his residency at St. Peter's University Hospital/Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey as well as a fellowship at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Dr. Gilbert Katz is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Katz is board certified in Cardiology and Nuclear Cardiology. He completed a surgical internship at Harvard University-New England Deaconness Hospital and a medical residency and cardiology fellowship at Tufts University-St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Boston. Dr. Katz enjoys all aspects of cardiology including angioplasty, pacemakers, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography and treatment of heart failure and arrhythmias.
