Pulmonary rehab is a medically supervised program for patients with chronic lung disease or other respiratory conditions impacting quality of life.
Some of these conditions include:
COPD
Interstitial Lung Disease (Pulmonary Fibrosis)
Lung transplant
Sarcoidosis
Paralyzed diaphragm
Cystic fibrosis
Lung cancer
Post-COVID condition with symptoms persisting greater than 4 weeks
Others may include shortness of breath with exertion, chronic bronchitis, asthma as well as many other conditions.
We have a team of nurses and respiratory therapists who create a personalized plan to improve a participant’s quality of life. Pulmonary rehab will help you with:
Increasing your endurance and strength
Teaching you breathing techniques
Helping you understand your medication treatment plan, including oxygen therapy
Eating better
Relaxation techniques
Emotional and group support
Strategies for living better with your lung condition
Overall goals of the program are to:
Improve participants' health and quality of life;
Reduce frequency of visits to the hospital or emergency room by helping patients manage their conditions;
Reduce the potential for future heart problems; and
Assist participants in choosing healthier lifestyles.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation does require a referral from your physician. Talk to your doctor to find out if Pulmonary Rehabilitation is right for you. Most insurance providers will pay for all or part of this therapy.
