CHCS Receives Grant from the Stormont Vail Foundation

Community HealthCare System (CHCS) has received a grant from the Stormont Vail Foundation to help continue their mental health offerings to students and community members. The $3,000 grant will help CHCS provide teaching materials for teen, youth, and adult Mental Health First Aid class courses.

“We are thrilled to receive this grant funding to purchase training materials for participants in our Mental Health First Aid classes,” said Andrea Lutz, CHCS Director of Ancillary Services. “We currently offer these classes through our local schools and communities and require participants to purchase the training materials, but now we will be able to offer between 100-115 adults and teens these classes for free,” Lutz said.

“We know there is a great need for mental health resources in our area. We continue to look for ways to offer additional services in our communities and local schools. Mental Health First Aid classes teach people how to identify, understand and respond to mental health and substance abuse challenges. We have seen the positive impact these courses have made on past participants, and we are excited to be able to offer them for free with this grant, “Lutz said.
