In June 2020, CHCS partially reopened its Fitness Centers after the initial COVID-19 shutdown. At that time, following a lengthy shutdown, CHCS tested the Onaga Rehabilitation and Fitness Center pool and discovered significant issues with the equipment. According to Todd Willert, CHCS CEO, "Despite COVID, we could not have re-opened the pool even if we wanted to."
CHCS is pleased to announce that the Board of Directors, after significant investigation and public input, has approved the necessary expenditures to repair the pool, and the equipment has been ordered. The entire pool system, including filters, pumps, lines, and chemical regulation system, will be repaired, along with the pool area ceiling and heating and air conditioning system for the pool area.
Willert said many people in the community let him know the importance of the pool.
“We heard from a number of people who let us know that the pool is an important asset to the community. We look forward to being able to reopen it when repairs are complete, and we appreciate the efforts of our maintenance manager, Gordon Beightel, in collecting estimates, ordering equipment and coordinating the repairs,” Willert said.
Repairs could take up to four months to complete. CHCS will share more information about a reopening date as repairs progress.

I want to thank the Board and everyone who made reopening the pool possible. I was told by Doctors and Physical Therapist that I needed to utilize the pool for my back. My neurosurgeon wanted me to go to PT in Manhattan to utilize their pool. I could not go to Manhattan every day because we have a son in a wheelchair who depends on us for his care. I have had back problems for many years and had a seizure 2 years ago that fractured 5 vertebrae, they were repaired by vertebroplasty . I told them
