Community HealthCare System (CHCS) has announced that Daniel Samani, MD, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in joint care, is joining the CHCS orthopedic team. With nearly 30 years of experience in joint replacement and reconstruction, Dr. Samani brings expertise that enables CHCS to offer a comprehensive Total Joint Program to patients in northeast Kansas, a first for the growing hospital.
“We are thrilled to have Dr. Samani join our team. Meeting our communities’ needs by expanding orthopedic care and services is a priority for our hospital,” said Merica Surdez, CHCS Chief of Provider and Clinic Operations. “Dr. Samani shares our commitment to excellence in surgical care and our passion for personalized medicine. Together we are bringing more specialized orthopedic care to those we serve.”
After earning his medical degree from The University of Iowa College of Medicine, Dr. Samani completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Ohio State University Hospitals and Clinics. There, he also completed a preceptorship in shoulder reconstruction in 1994.
“Communities across our region need and deserve convenient access to specialized, comprehensive joint care, and that’s what CHCS now offers, and I’m honored to be part of that team leading the way,” said Dr. Samani. “Knowing we can better serve patients where they are, eliminating the need to travel far from home for these specialized procedures, is an incredible opportunity to make a meaningful difference. I look forward to helping patients stay active and enjoy happier, pain-free lives.”
This development marks an exciting milestone for CHCS as they expand orthopedic services to include total joint care for the first time in the hospital’s history. The Total Joint Program provides a seamless patient experience from scheduling and care navigation to imaging, surgery, and post-surgical rehabilitation.
Dr. Samani is now seeing patients at CHCS in Onaga, Kan. Currently, he provides surgical care for knee and shoulder procedures, and will add hip procedures in the near future. To make an appointment, visit chcsks.org/orthopedics or call 785-889-5039.
