Rempe to Join CHCS Full-Time

Rempe to Join CHCS Full-Time

We are happy to announce Amanda Rempe, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, will be joining the staff at the Onaga and Westmoreland Clinics full-time.   Rempe has been on staff as an as-needed -provider for the past few years, but beginning mid-December, she will work in our Onaga Clinic on Mondays and in our Westmoreland Clinic on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

“We are excited Amanda has decided to join our organization as a full-time nurse practitioner,” said Merica Surdez, CHCS Chief of Provider and Clinic Operations. “Throughout her nursing career, Amanda has been a part of our CHCS family. Joining us now as a full-time APRN has a feeling of her returning home. It is always a win for CHCS and our communities when we are able to recruit and retain local providers. With these roots, they understand our unique needs and are committed to serving our rural communities long-term. Amanda’s familiarity with CHCS will allow for a seamless transition into each of these clinics.”

Rempe graduated from Washburn University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing in December 2015. She briefly worked in the Stormont Vail emergency department as a Registered Nurse before returning to Community HealthCare System and working in the hospital’s acute nursing department for 6 years. She later decided to pursue her Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree, which she earned from Washburn University in 2021.

Rempe noted deciding to join CHCS full-time was easy.  “I have doctored with Community Healthcare System since birth. I love our tight knit community. I became a Nurse Practitioner to improve the lives and overall health of the community that my friends and family will be nurtured and cultivated in,” she said.

To Rempe the most rewarding aspect of practicing medicine is making an impactful difference in someone’s life and helping them take responsibility for their own health and well-being.  “I want to make personal connections with my patients and help improve their overall quality of life.  It is truly an honor to be trusted with guiding patients to make healthcare decisions based on their specific needs and wants,” she said.

In her spare time Rempe enjoys reading and spending time with family and friends. She and her husband have 5 children, ages 2 months to 6 years, and live outside of Frankfort.  She has resided in the same rural community since birth and says, “I wouldn’t fathom raising my family anywhere else.”
