CHCS provides a number of specialty clinics each month in our Onaga, Holton, and St. Marys locations. Dr. Kenneth Hobbs, Doctor of Podiatric Medicine, or DPM, is our specialty clinic provider of the month.
Podiatry is the medical and surgical treatment for foot disorders. Dr. Hobbs said his interest in podiatry stems from his college days when he was an avid jogger. “I get great satisfaction when I can help my patients maintain their mobility,” he said.
Some common foot problems include ingrown or fungal toenails, corns or callouses, bunions, hammer toes, and heel spurs. According to Dr. Hobbs, self-examination of feet is very important to improving foot health, especially for diabetics.
“Early intervention of a minor foot problem often avoids more serious problems,” Dr. Hobbs said.
Dr. Hobbs grew up in Wisconsin and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin. He then graduated from Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine and completed his residency at the Colmery-O’Neil Veterans Administration Medical Center in Topeka. His main practice is in Topeka, but he has seen patients at CHCS for a number of years.
“I have witnessed the changes to the facility but have always enjoyed the professional yet friendly atmosphere. I know my patients also appreciate that,” Dr. Hobbs said.
Dr. Hobbs is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, the Kansas Podiatric Medical Association and the American Academy of Podiatric Practice Management.
